Saudi Arabia Condemns Israel's Cut-Off of Electricity in Gaza
Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Israel's decision to cut off electricity in the Gaza Strip, describing it as a form of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.
In a statement released on the "X" platform, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that "the Kingdom strongly condemns the Israeli occupation authorities' practice of collective punishment against the Palestinian people in Gaza by cutting off electricity to the Strip."
The ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia's categorical rejection of Israeli violations of international humanitarian law and called on the international community to take immediate action to restore electricity and facilitate the flow of aid to Gaza without condition.
Saudi Arabia also renewed its call for the activation of international accountability mechanisms to hold Israel accountable for its serious violations.
The Israeli government had earlier announced the suspension of electricity sales to the Gaza Strip, which would result in an immediate halt to the flow of electricity to the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Palestinian resistance movement Hamas described the move as a "desperate attempt to pressure the Palestinian people through cheap and rejected blackmail."
Hamas stated that "cutting off electricity, closing crossings, suspending aid and relief, and starving our people is a form of collective punishment and a complete war crime."
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also condemned the Israeli Ministry of Energy's decision to cut off electricity to Gaza, considering it a deepening of the war of extermination, displacement, and humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip at all levels of life.
