Protest Erupts at Columbia University Over Hosting of Naftali Bennett
A group of pro-Palestinian students gathered outside Columbia University to protest the participation of former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in an event hosted by the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
The event, moderated by SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo, was co-sponsored by Columbia/Barnard Hillel, the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, and the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life.
Groups such as Columbia University Apartheid Divest, Columbia/Barnard Jewish Voice for Peace, and the Columbia University Palestinian Students Association promoted the protest, with the Jewish Voice for Peace releasing a statement condemning Bennett's "political project".
According to the Columbia Spectator, police arrived at the scene to prevent protesters from entering the event.
