Australian Company Begins Extraction of Rare Mineral in Arab Country
Australian-based company, Zeus Resources, has announced its acquisition of the Dar Beida project in Morocco, aiming to extract the rare mineral Antimony. This move aligns with the global trend of investing in rare minerals.
According to reports, Zeus Resources has signed an agreement with Ashgill Morocco, as disclosed to the Australian Stock Exchange. The agreement involves the development of six exploration licenses covering an area of 79 square kilometers, with the project to be implemented through the Moroccan branch of the Australian company.
Analysts in Morocco have highlighted that this investment strengthens the country's mining sector, particularly in relation to strategic minerals used in defense industries. This aligns with Morocco's efforts to promote the localization of these industries.
The analysts emphasized the importance of ensuring that these investment projects create job opportunities for Moroccans, allowing local populations to benefit from them as well. They also stressed the need to prioritize safety conditions, environmental protection, and the well-being of local residents.
Antimony, a gray, lustrous metalloid, has been used since ancient times in medicine and cosmetics. It is a vital element in various industries, including the manufacture of photovoltaic glass for solar cells. Antimony is also used in the production of advanced electronic components, and to enhance the properties of glass and ceramics.
