Three Police Officers Killed in Armed Attack in Northwest Pakistan  

**Karachi, Pakistan – February 6, 2025**  

Three Pakistani police officers were killed and five others injured after **armed militants attacked a security checkpoint** in **Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province**, early Thursday morning, according to local authorities.  

#### **Attack Details**  

Police official **Abbas Khan** confirmed that officers **returned fire** after coming under attack in the **early hours of February 6**. However, no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.  

#### **Security Operation in North Waziristan**  

On the same night, **Pakistani security forces** launched a **counterterrorism operation** in **North Waziristan**, a region bordering **Afghanistan**. The operation led to **a fierce gunfight**, resulting in the deaths of **12 militants**, according to an official **military statement**.  

The **Pakistani Army** reported that **weapons and ammunition** were seized from the dead militants. Additionally, the **body of one insurgent** was handed over to **Afghan authorities**, as confirmed by Foreign Ministry spokesman **Shaukat Ali Khan**.  

#### **Government Reaction**  

Pakistani **Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi** condemned the **deadly attack** and expressed condolences to the families of the fallen officers. In a statement, he blamed the assault on **Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)**, also known as the **Pakistani Taliban**.  

This attack highlights the **growing security threats** in the region, with militant groups continuing to target **law enforcement and military personnel** in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistani government has vowed to **intensify counterterrorism operations** to combat insurgent activity.
