The victims suffered head injuries, burns, and smoke inhalation. Five of them were taken to the hospital for treatment. The blast also ignited a forest fire in the industrial area, which spread over an area of 2,000 square meters before being brought under control.

Rheinmetall spokesperson Oliver Hofmann stated to *RIA Novosti* that the company does not consider the explosion to be an act of terrorism. The company’s assessment suggests that the incident was a result of an accident rather than a deliberate attack. It operates alongside six other facilities in Spain and the United States and serves over 60 countries worldwide.

Rheinmetall has been a significant supplier of defense equipment, with Ukraine being one of its major clients. In December 2024, the company announced a €9 million contract to supply 155mm artillery shells to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. This shipment, which was scheduled for January 2025, included tens of thousands of different types of shells.
